Six Feet Apart Memos

Separation of performers in Zoom and audience on YouTube. Really can’t see audience.

Taking the stage is part of the ritual. Always a privilege, an invitation. Online, more help/enabling from producers. In this case “magic” of name card fading to teller’s face. Leaving the stage is also part of the ritual. A signal is needed here so the producer can remove the teller from the virtual stage. In person, this is often handing back the mic.

Unmuting is like taking a physical microphone.

Images of past and future shows, big title – like “stuff on stage” at in person shows. Supports brand. Not on stage at the same time as tellers.

Host telling a story during “tech problems.” Kind. Avoids tellers being “faceless.”

Previous winner’s brief story of how life has changed since winning, sort of a tall tale. Interesting at an event that is, otherwise, true, personal stories.

Zoom stage becomes backstage when YouTube stream ended. “Afterparty” for tellers.
