Friendship with the story

I love Joyce’s comment:
They may connect and make
some kind of friendship with a story.
Sometimes what happens at Carapace allows the audience to go beyond the story and make a connection with the storyteller. Lance talked about people staying after the show to talk to one another:
it was a regular thing where
after Carapace had ended
you'd still have people hanging around for a good 30, 45 minutes,
an hour or more,
and they break off into their own small little groups and
oh your story was amazing
let me tell you what happened to me
Joyce said under different circumstances:
I would probably never
talk to anyone.
I would just show up
and hear the stories
and leave and
I think I'd be wildly fulfilled with that just alone.

This makes me think that the stories are incredibly valuable in themselves, whether or not they lead to audience members making a connection with the storyteller.
