Ending with change
Shannon:
I think that the old Aristotelian
format of like the
rising action, climax, and falling action,
but really if you put the third leg back on that
and turn it into the Delta sign,
that there needs to be some kind of
ultimate change in the person,
and that's the story that
will be really successful.
I think there’s something on this in Inviting the Wolf In by Ellis and Niemi. Different ways to end a story. You can talk about how you’ve changed internally (that’s when I realized…), but possibly even stronger is to end on action (since then I’ve always done X instead). Both show change. There might be other endings that involve change as well. I’m acquiring the book to get this down better.
