Judging to weed out boring stories

just in my conversations with them

they were like

there's still a lot of people that are going to get up on that stage

and they’re going to bore your audience.

They have no business being up there.

Those are the words they said a word for word

and the judging helps weed that out.

I didn’t realize this was the reason The Moth had judging, but it makes sense. Their focus seems to be more on the entertainment value and Carapace is about something different.
