Storytelling and sex

Molly said this beautiful thing about about how storytelling is sharing your spirit:
I mean, I heard,
Robert Shaw was like this
choral conductor, famous,
and he said that singing is the most,
second-most intimate thing
two people can do with each other.
But you know what?
I think storytelling might beat out singing.
Because, singing,
you know, you have this pre-recorded,
or pre-
documented thing that you are going to share together
you know what you are going to say.
It’s not personal, but it is a group thing.
But, you think about storytelling –
you strip away
what you look like,
your race,
your class,
the body that you came in and you tell
something about your spirit.
And you share that.
And I started thinking –
that’s, that’s about as intimate as you can get.
It goes beyond your body, you know.
It goes into your mind and your feelings
and your thoughts.

She talked about stripping away your body, but the connection with sex still implies a physicality, at least in the way that we touch each other and feel deeply as a result of the interaction.
